Dylan Strom
coach bio
Coach Dylan Strom joins the Elmira Jr. Aviators Academy as the Head Coach of our 16U AAA program, bringing an impressive blend of NCAA coaching experience, elite skills development expertise, and a distinguished military background. His leadership style is rooted in structure, consistency, and professionalism—qualities that set the tone for the high-performance environment of our Academy.
Strom previously served as an Assistant Coach at NCAA Division I Michigan State University, contributing to one of the most respected collegiate hockey programs in the country. In addition to his NCAA experience, he worked as a skills coach with TPH Colorado, one of the nation’s premier hockey development organizations. His hands-on work with athletes in the 15–18 age range gives him a clear understanding of what players need at this critical stage and how to prepare them for the next level.
Before dedicating himself fully to coaching, Strom spent 14 years in the Air National Guard as a C-130H Loadmaster, completing six combat deployments and logging over 1,600 flight hours—more than 600 of which were in combat zones. The discipline, communication, accountability, and leadership demanded in tactical aviation directly shape the culture he brings to the rink. His military experience provides a level of stability and mentorship that resonates deeply with young athletes.
Strom also brings valuable experience from the high-school level, having served as the Head Coach at Fort Collins High School, where he developed a reputation for building strong relationships, teaching habits that translate beyond the game, and helping players mature into responsible young men. His player-first mindset, combined with high standards and a commitment to daily consistency, aligns perfectly with the values of the Elmira Jr. Aviators Academy.
The Elmira Hockey Academy is proud to welcome Coach Dylan Strom, whose leadership and vision will play a key role in shaping the future of our 16U program.
