Darren McCormick serves as both the Academy Director and Head Coach of the 18U AAA team, bringing extensive professional playing experience and a high-performance mindset to the Elmira Jr. Aviators Hockey Academy. McCormick played over 300 professional games across the ECHL, SPHL, and top European leagues in France and Hungary, competing at a high level both in North America and abroad.

During the 2020–21 season, McCormick was the SPHLʼs leading scorer and helped lead his team to a league championship, establishing himself as one of the leagueʼs premier offensive players. He later earned selection to the 2023 ECHL All-Star Game, further highlighting his impact at the professional level.

As Academy Director, McCormick applies his professional playing background along with his experience coaching Junior A at the NAHL and NCDC levels to build a structured, detail-oriented development model. His approach emphasizes accountability, hockey IQ, and professional habits, ensuring athletes are prepared not only to compete at elite levels today, but to succeed at the next stages of junior and collegiate hockey.
